LAS VEGAS - Victor Ortiz beat people down, and he did every time he stepped into the ring. It goes down twice in his last fight alone.
This model can make exciting fights. It is also a style that plays right into the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Mayweather returns to the ring for the first time in 16 months on Saturday night against Ortiz in a fight for a piece of the welterweight title. His experience and high defense make him a favorite, but Mayweather will entertain the desires of the opening bell.
"I'll go straight," said Mayweather. "This fight is not Going The Distance."
