The Nazca lines in Peru, the mysterious geoglyphs etched in the desert for centuries by indigenous peoples, are world famous - and now thousands of similar patterns were found in the Middle East.
Satellite imagery and aerial revealed "wheels" of rock that are more mysterious and older than the Nazca lines in countries like Syria, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
The structures are dated from 2000 years, but why they were built, is baffling archaeologists and historians.

He added: "People probably walk on them, went before them for centuries, millennia, without a clear idea of what was the shape."
The local Bedouin, a nomadic people in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Libya, Egypt and Israel, calling them "works of the old man."
They are often found on the lava fields - but not to fall into a pattern, according to Kennedy, whose research on them will be published in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Archaeological Science.
He says they come in a variety of forms, some of them "kites," structures that channeled the animals, some of them seemingly random lines winding stone and others are rectangular.
