You need to keep tabs on your competitors' product offerings and prices and you need to ensure that your customers are satisfied. But most importantly, you need to ensure that your sales and business grow, even in tough times.
It is no wonder then that many promotional distributors don't have a presence on social media networks. There simply isn't enough time in the day! But, in today's day and age, neglecting social media marketing can be a fatal mistake.
Over the years, the internet has increasingly become one of the most important mediums marketers rely on to generate sales. While personal interaction should not be underestimated, the fact is that if your brand is not visible online, you're missing out.

The following tips will assist you to increase your awareness and sales online:
  1. Spend time: Most social media tools like Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter are free. Thus, you will be getting results without spending money. However, you do need to spend time on your business pages and profiles on these networks. Make sure that your social media pages are up-to-date. Remember to be patient. While you may not have too many followers on a business fan page on Facebook, if you update fresh, interesting content on it, your number of followers will only increase in time
  2. Be consistent: Make sure your website and Facebook Business Pages have the same look. Your Twitter background should either incorporate your brand colors or logo. Create a user name that you can use across all social media sites that is relevant to your business
  3. Give valuable information: Many distributors are tempted to push hard for sales through social networks. However, if all you offer on social networks is repetitive messages about your products and discounts, you will lose your followers' interest. People are more likely to enjoy viewing an inspirational video or reading a funny joke posted to your Facebook page than be bombarded with messages about your new offers
  4. Participate: Re-tweet interesting tweets on Twitter or participate in discussions in Facebook groups you are a member of. Social networks enable communication, so make sure your voice is heard too. However, don't offend people with your views. You never know which reader might just be a potential customer
  5. Network: Identify Influencers in the social media networks you use and get to know them. These people could refer their friends and clients to you.
