Boyd, who has already formed an exploratory committee, told The South Missourian that his interest in politics is not a surprise to his friends and family.
"It was always my intention to stand. The big joke in my family that I was running for governor since he was 5 years old. Well, it used to be a joke," Boyd joked.
Boyd challenged Holly Rehder in August 2012 Republican primary. Democratic challenger has not yet been determined.

Boyd won the Talent America in 2008 and continued the title of his own stage show in Las Vegas.
